Our Trip to Aqualand Marina
What
an exciting time we had on our field trip to Aqualand Marina! It was definitely
a perfect day for a boat ride. Fifth graders learned all about erosion
happening around the lake. We talked about what a watershed is and how keeping
our water clean is very important. Do you know why our lake is called Lake
Lanier? Ask our fifth graders! We practiced our map skills during an exciting
Jeopardy trivia game. During our boat ride, we looking for wildlife, did
experiments to test the pH of the water in the lake and even got a glance at
some phytoplankton! Here are some snapshots from our fun trip:

Falling into Fifth Grade!
So much learning is happening in fifth grade and we’re
just in September! We will be updating the site with the many exciting and
fun-filled events and learning that is going on in the lives of our fifth
graders.
Here are a couple of reminders for you:
*Students will receive a reading log each week. They
should read a minimum of 100 minutes a week. This reading log will be taken for
a grade.
*Check and sign your child’s Monday folder every week.
This signed sheet will have your child’s current math facts to study as well as
reading level. Monday folders will contain graded work, completed assessments,
and important school flyers for upcoming events at SHES.
*Make sure your child is practicing their math facts at
home. Math fact fluency is important to be successful throughout the year.
